Simeon – The HS Was Upon Him

(WARNING – long post following – but I couldn’t help but to post it anyhow)

Luke 2:27 (speaking of Simeon when he saw Jesus) MOVED BY THE SPIRIT, he went into the temple courts. When the parents brought in the child Jesus to do for him what the custom of the Law required, Simeon took him in his arms and praised God, saying…"

MOVED BY THE SPIRIT. This is one of my life goals – that Scott Miller was someone who was moved by the Spirit, led by the Spirit. I wonder what Simeon’s life would have been like if he wouldn’t have followed this moving of the Spirit? Would he have ever met Jesus? Would he still be walking around here b/c God had promised him he wouldn’t die until he would see the Lord’s Christ? I’m sure he would have eventually found Jesus, but the timing wouldn’t have been the same. What if Simeon would have freaked out about the whole unction of the HS? What if he would have thought that maybe it was just the Mexican Pizza he had for lunch? He would have missed out on one of the most amazing events of his life! My heart is heavy even as I type this. I want to be moved by the Spirit every single day.

What about you? Really, as we go into 2008, will you continue to be led by your mind (soul) only? Or will you engage your spirit? I realize there’s a bit of a tag team going on here (spirit/soul/body), but some of us are so set on what makes sense in our minds (soul) that we suck the life of the Spirit right out of something! We can literally bypass God’s perfect plan b/c it doesn’t make sense. Am I right?

Whether you are a part of Pathway or not, can I challenge you (in the spirit of The Christmas Story – I double dog dare you) to take the first part of this year to do a spiritual inventory. Fast, pray, seek His Agenda for your life, your job, your kids, your business, your marriage! Let’s see what happens out of this!
